The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers will compete to be one of the NFC’s top teams in 2024. The two teams played in the 2024 playoffs, and the Packers defeated Dallas.
However, that hasn’t stopped the two teams from having sky-high hopes this season. As it turns out, the Cowboys believe that a former Packers linebacker can assist meet those goals.
The Dallas Cowboys Bring In Former Green Bay Packers Defensive End
According to Michael David Smith from Pro Football Talk: A successful UFL season could help defensive end Jonathan Garvin earn another chance in the NFL.
Garvin’s agents confirmed to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero that he is working out for the Cowboys. Garvin contributed to the Birmingham Stallions’ dominating defence, which shut out San Antonio in the UFL championship game. Garvin, a 2020 seventh-round pick by the Packers, played three seasons in Green Bay and was a valuable special teams contributor.
His pass rushing and special teams abilities could earn him a spot on the NFL roster this season.
Jonathan Garvin Played Three Seasons For Green Bay
The former seventh-round pick from Miami spent the first three years of his career with the Packers. In 2021, he made the most significant contribution to his team’s defence, recording 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks while playing 40 percent of the defensive snaps.
The lineman’s defensive snaps were slashed in half for the 2022 season, and the Packers terminated him in July of last year. While Garvin did not land an NFL job in 2023, he did resurface with the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League.
With 3.5 sacks and 20 tackles, he had a strong season for the eventual league champion. Garvin is only 24 years old and still has a lot of potential.
